14 DAY TRIAL // Taylor Swift vowed to never make a spectacle out of a new romance, after getting burned badly in the media in recent years. She’s been dating Calvin Harris since March this year, and so far, she managed to stay true to her word.
That means no interviews in which she gushes about him and very few photos of the two together, be they paparazzi shots or approved pics on social media. The one attached to this article is one of the few Taylor has up on Instagram with Calvin, and she’s avoided talking about him in the press so far.
This makes this interview with him all the more thrilling for fans, because it’s the first time he talks about the relationship.
Calvin is “insanely happy”
Calvin sat down for a chat with KIIS FM on Friday and the topic of his relationship with Taylor Swift came up, the Daily Mail reports. Seeing how it’s boosted his international profile, the increase in attention was something he expected from dating Taylor, he explained.
However, he is still not over the fact that their relationship can generate so many headlines, even at those times when they’re not doing anything in particular.
“It’s going absolutely fantastic,” Harris says. “It’s interesting because obviously there’s different things written about it every day and even if we don’t do anything publicly for a while, someone will make something up. For me it could be a lot worse and I’d still be like insanely happy with her so I’m good with it.”
He advises caution for fans eager to believe everything written in the glossies: their story sells so the truth isn’t always the focus of the juicy bits that get out. As far as they’re concerned, they don’t pay too much attention to the rumor mill and try to focus on what’s important: living their life and cherishing every moment of it.
As high-profile as Taylor is, she does a lot of stuff that the media never finds out about, Calvin continues. Their dates usually go by unnoticed because they manage to outsmart the paparazzi, because they don’t want to feed into this narrative that plays out in the tabs and has very little in common with reality.
Taylor Swift is an “incredible human being”
If you’re wondering how come Calvin is suddenly so vocal about his relatively new girlfriend, the explanation could be that he’s in love.
He certainly sounds like a man in love, from what he’s saying. In between praising Taylor for her way of handling all this unwanted attention and saying he’s so happy with her that he doesn’t even mind being made into a paparazzi target, he also gushes about her many accomplishments.
Taylor isn’t just a phenomenal songwriter and singer, she’s also an excellent cook and “an incredible human being,” he says. Not a day passes without him finding out something surprising about her, apparently.
