Video game developer Treyarch and publisher Activision are announcing that they are planning to launch the Awakening downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on February 2 of this year on the PlayStation 4 home console.

The company initially said that delivery would take place during the middle of January so gamers will have to wait a little extra in order to get access to the four new multiplayer maps contained in DLC, called Rise, Splash, Gauntlet and Skyjacked, which offers an updated take on the classic hijacked from Black Ops 2.

Gamers will also be able to play a new episode for the cooperative zombie-powered campaign, which is called Der Eisendrache and will mark the beginning of a new narrative that will involve plenty of new undead threats and some interesting time travel moments.

Gamers can see all the new content in action in the video attached to this article.

Gamers who own Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on the PC or the Xbox One will be able to get access to all same content that is part of Awakening for the first-person shooter about one month later.

Treyarch has said that the new maps for multiplayer are all designed to offer unique takes on the mechanics, introducing more variety for those gamers who have already mastered the core ones.

The studio will also deliver a major patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 when the Awakening arrives, but no information has yet been offered about the kinds of tweaks it will make to the main features of the title.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will get four major DLC packs in 2016

Gamers who want to make sure that they get all the new content for the shooter have the options to pick up a Season Pass that covers all of them, and they would also do well to play the title on the PlayStation 4, because of the 30-day difference between launch dates.

Treyarch has not said whether it plans to add more Operatives to the multiplayer side of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and the DLC that arrives later in 2016 might also add new modes and other types of extra content.

Recently, the company has launched a hotfix for the shooter and then quickly undid the changes because they were not tested enough.

The design director working on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 says that his team continue to track player behavior and feedback and does not have plans to introduce any changes to the matchmaking system to make the skill level of a player more important than his Internet connection.

The new entry in the long-running franchise was well received by players, who tend to praise its new movement system and the way. Operatives and extra customization options improve multiplayer battles.

Developers at Infinity Ward are currently working with Activision on a new title in the Call of Duty series that it expected to arrive in the fall of next year on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
