The development team at Treyarch and publisher Activision have found a fairly novel way of delivering information about the single-player story that will be included in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, high jacking the official Twitter account of the series to make it look like one of a news agency delivering information from the future.

It all started with some cryptic references to movies and fashion shows and has then escalated to stories about a big blast that takes place in 2065 on the north shore of the Singapore Marina, at research laboratories that belong to Coalescence Corporation.

Since then, Treyarch and Activision have also talked about a no-fly zone, prompted by the fact that initial responder aircraft went down without an explanation, and about people who are being shot while trying to flee the area.

The Singapore Armed Forces are also involved and a quarantine zone has been established.

Until now, the two companies have not offered any hints about the characters that gamers will be able to play as or about the kinds of missions they will take part in.

Fans know that technology is so advanced that most soldiers integrate cybernetic implants and are boosted by genetic tweaking and that most warfare takes place behind enemy lines, using small groups that take out high value targets.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 also delivers cooperative and multiplayer modes

Shadows of Evil is the name of the zombie campaign associated with the new shooter and Treyarch is taking gamers to a noir version of the '40s in order to introduce unique enemies and bosses that gamers will have to overpower by working together.

When it comes to competitive multiplayer, the focus of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be on movement, with gamers now able to move in a more vertical manner, which opens up new ways to move across the levels and surprise enemies.

Treyarch is also introducing Specialists, each with a unique weapon and ability, to give gamers a faster way to jump right into the combat.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be offered on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 on November 6 and gamers will also be able to get a version of the game for older devices, although it will not include the single-player campaign.
