Developer Treyarch and publisher Activision have committed to launching the Awakening downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on February 2 of next year for the PlayStation 4, and both companies are now ready to fully detail the new maps to be offered for the multiplayer side of the first-person shooter.

Skyjacked might be the most eagerly awaited by the fan base because it represents a remake of the classic Black Ops 2 experience called Hijacked, allowing gamers to use the new movement system of the series to explore a VTOL craft that is currently hovering in the clouds above Zurich.

Gauntlet will put gamers inside a military training facility and uses a classic three-lane structure, with gamers having to deal with a different environment based on the path of assault they choose, including a rainy city, an arctic landscape, and a deep jungle.

Splash for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is located inside an abandoned water park that features waterslides, a pirate ship, and a lazy river, with Treyarch aiming for open combat spaces and some underwater engagements.

In Rise, players will once again return to Zurich to explore a huge research campus that combines a variety of play styles and gives gamers plenty of opportunities to use the new movement system.

Mark Lamia, the leader of the Treyarch studio, states, "Since Black Ops III launched last month, the response from our community has been incredible in every way. With Awakening, the studio is focused on creating a wide variety of gameplay experiences for our fans in Multiplayer and Zombies that will keep players coming back for more."

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is also getting more zombie content

For players who do not want to face off against other humans in the multiplayer mode, Treyarch and Activision are also adding a new episode to the zombie mode in the first-person shooter, which allows gamers to cooperate to take out powerful undead enemies.

Der Eisendrache represents the first installment in a long campaign that will feature Richtofen, Nicolai, Takeo and Dempsey.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will take groups of four players to a medieval castle that was built on horror foundations and where deposits of element 115 were discovered, adding new gameplay twists and a range of narration-driven surprises for the mode.

Awakening will be first live on the PlayStation 4, and those who own the shooter on the PC and the Xbox One will have to wait for about one month before they get to buy it, and a major patch is also expected to arrive alongside it.

Gamers who want to make sure they get all the four DLC packs coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 can buy the official Season Pass.

Treyarch has not yet said whether it will faithfully follow the formula of the series and will focus mainly on extra zombie-driven content and on multiplayer maps or whether it also has plans to introduce more Operators and new weapons.
