Even if E! asks her back, she won’t return because the show only served to alienate her more from her family

Caitlyn Jenner was very thrilled to have landed her very own show on E!, home to her family’s reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, mostly because it would allow her to tell her own story, at her own pace.

The I Am Cait docuseries, which looks at Caitlyn’s transition from male to female and the ways in which she’s adapting to her new life, wrapped up some time ago, and the network is yet to announce a renewal for another season. Even if they do, Caitlyn will not return.

I Am Cait drove Caitlyn farther apart from the family

Insiders familiar with the situation tell Radar Online that Caitlyn feels like she needs to take some time out and just focus on herself for a while. I Am Cait was a wonderful experience but, instead of bringing her closer to the family she believes she alienated with her transition, it did just the opposite.

Add this to the fact that it didn’t even get the ratings she and the producers were hoping for, and it makes sense for her not to want to be back.

“Every single one of Caitlyn’s children are so glad that the show is finally off the air and that it is over,” an insider says. “To have her on the same network that KUWTK is on caused more trouble than it was worth because it gave her the platform to air out all of her dirty laundry. I Am Cait really pushed Caitlyn farther away from her family than she had ever wanted.”

Because she’s looking to repair some of the damage, Caitlyn will refuse to do a second season of the series.

I Am Cait will probably be back, though

While this insider is positive that Caitlyn will retire from the spotlight and focus on her work within the LGBT community, another insider tells Buzzfeed that I Am Cait is being renewed for a second season, despite the disappointing ratings.

If you think about it, it’s not that surprising to bring the docuseries back: it didn’t make a killer in the ratings, but it wasn’t a flop either. Plus, the fans loved it even though critics objected to how the transition was being turned into a typical story arc for reality television.

Caitlyn Jenner is, after all, a member of the Kardashian - Jenner clan and they thrive on negative feedback and criticism, as well as on conflict. For years, Bruce Jenner complained about how much he hated being on KUWTK and a reality star, but the first thing he did when he transitioned to Caitlyn was to score his own deal, for his own show.

In other words, Caitlyn loves attention as much as any other member of the family. She’ll be back.
