Watch out, folks, it’s happening on both iOS and Android

Pokemon Go has become Pokemon No following the most recent update released by Niantic for Android and iOS, as it turns out that this new version actually breaks down the game and resets accounts to level 1.

For the moment, Niantic is remaining completely tight-lipped on what’s happening with the update, and this shouldn’t come as a big surprise. Not only did Pokemon Go ship with so many bugs from the very beginning, but Niantic has shown almost no interest in getting in touch with users to discuss issues and ways to improve the game, so don’t expect any confirmation or statement this time either.

According to thousands of complaints that have been posted everywhere on the web in the last 24 hours, the July 31 update for Pokemon Go is requiring users to provide their account credentials and log in back to the game.

Once they do that, however, many notice that their game progress is affected, and they’re back to level 1 once again, losing all their Pokemon and items. And given Niantic’s complete secrecy, it’s impossible to tell whether the company is working on a fix or on a way to restore game progress for impacted accounts.

Inconsistency between Android and iOS

And obviously, this doesn’t stop here. There are complains that there are inconsistencies between the Android and iOS versions of Pokemon Go, with some users claiming that some of their Pokemon are gone on iOS but appear to be just fine on Android.

Clearly, Niantic needs to fix this mess because users no longer seem willing to tolerate the lack of transparency that the company is showing these days. Some have already canceled their orders for the Pokemon Plus accessory simply because they don’t feel it’s worth the money while others abandoned the game after their accounts got reset back to level 1.

We’ve reached out to Niantic to see if the company is at least working on a way to restore the game progress for impacted accounts, but we don’t expect an answer very soon.
