14 DAY TRIAL // Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux married earlier this year, after a 3-year engagement to Justin Theroux and amid lots of speculation that she might never walk down the aisle again. Not much was heard since of the ceremony, which took place in secret in the couple’s backyard, but that doesn’t mean married life is drama-free.
Brad Pitt is here to make sure of that, unwillingly or not, according to a new report in The National Enquirer. Apparently, he came up with the idea of sending the newlyweds a gift and it ended up becoming a subject of arguments between them.
Brad Pitt sent flowers and a vase
According to the tabloid, Brad Pitt was one of the many celebrities who weren’t invited to the wedding (which isn’t surprising) and who sent in gifts after word of it got out.
Jennifer and Justin tied the knot in early August, and managed to keep details of the ceremony and the reception a secret from the media by pretending she was throwing him a surprise birthday party. Rumor has it that not even the guests knew what would happen, which was why the two insisted on holding the event in the middle of the week.
Brad and Jennifer were divorced in 2005 and he’s now married to longtime partner Angelina Jolie, with whom he supposedly cheated on Aniston a while back.
The divorce wasn’t publicly bitter, but that doesn’t mean that he would ever score an invite to her next wedding. But he’s not the kind of guy not to do a nice thing if the occasion arises.
“Brad bought the newlyweds a big Baccarat Crystal vase filled with sunflowers, and sent it over with a note of congratulations,” a spy tells the tab. “That vase came just from Brad, so we’re wondering if Angelina even knows about it!”
Justin is mad about it
As per the same report, since the gift came from Brad, Justin got very mad when he saw it. The insider believes that the vase and flowers must have ended straight in the garbage bin, because (obviously!), Justin doesn’t appreciate nice gestures from his wife’s ex-husband.
However, Brad’s gesture wasn’t entirely unselfish: he didn’t do it just because he wanted to reach out to his ex to congratulate her, but because he was hoping word of it would get out in the media and would then deflect from reports of trouble in his own marriage.
That seems a bit excessive and impractical, especially considering the hint that he didn’t inform Angelina about it beforehand.
