14 DAY TRIAL // One of the latest software updates released by Samsung for its flagships is apparently breaking down the wireless charging, according to plenty of user reports posted on official forums.
Oddly enough, the issue first appeared in September, but SamMobile noticed a spike in the number of complaints in this regard after the latest update released by Samsung, with more users now unable to charge their devices with a wireless charger.
By the looks of things, the Galaxy Note20 and the Galaxy S20 are both affected, though the Ultra version of both models seems to be primarily impacted.
Not everybody is encountering the bug, and I also tested the whole thing on my Galaxy Note20 Ultra after installing the latest Samsung updates and everything is working correctly both with an original Samsung wireless charger and a third-party charger.
No word from Samsung just yet
But users on Samsung’s forums claim that the glitch behaves differently from one device to another, and while in some cases the charging doesn’t work at all, others claim that the process gets interrupted every few seconds for no clear reason.
“Same problem here in Europe with Exynos s20+, on 3 different chargers. I tried every possible combination of charging settings, restarting the phone etc- none worked. Meanwhile, S9+ fast-charges flawlessly. I suspect some bug in the firmware and I hope for a fix from Samsung,” someone said on Samsung’s forums earlier this year, which indicates that the problem isn’t new, but it only got worse after the latest updates.
For the time being, the South Korean company has remained completely tight-lipped on everything in this regard, so we still don’t know if a fix is in the works or not. But one thing is sure: if you haven’t installed the latest Samsung updates on your Galaxy S20 or Note20, you’d better wait a few more days to do so. As a workaround, you could just try to disable the NFC, as this apparently does the trick for some users out there.
