Vault Hunters will start to encounter Haunted enemies

Gearbox recently announced Borderlands 3 is the fastest-selling game in its portfolio with over 5 million units sold in just five days. Such a huge success should be celebrated with style and Gearbox doesn't disappoint when it comes to these celebrations.

The developer confirmed the first Borderlands 3 event will drop in October, most likely around the Halloween. Dubbed Bloody Harvest, the in-game event will be available to all Borderlands 3 players for free and will be delivered as an update.

Once the event starts, Vault Hunters who have departed Pandora for the first time and started exploring the far reaches of space aboard Sanctuary III will start to encounter so-called Haunted enemies around the galaxy.

These aren't just cannon-fodder, as they are crucial to accessing a new event-specific map. Borderlands 3 players should be careful though since the Ghosts that rise from the bodies of slain Haunted enemies will their best to scare them. The mere touch of one of these Ghosts will induce the new Terror debuff, which partially shrouds vision and weakens gun handling, accuracy, and spread.

Many of these new enemies drop Hecktoplasm that can be turned in to Maurice on board of the Sanctuary III. Players who gain access to the Bloody Harvest map will take on Halloween-themed enemies like Rakk-O'-Lanterns, Maliwan goons, and many others. If they survive the onslaught, they will be facing the baron of Bloody Harvest himself (see the picture above).

Those who managed to beat the story campaign will have a feeling of deja vu and rightfully so, as the Baron of Bloody Harvest (aka Captain Haunt) is, in fact, the bonier version of Captain Traunt, a gigantic Maliwan heavy soldier.

Obviously, during the event, Borderlands 3 players can earn new cosmetic rewards such as an ECHO Device skin, a weapon trinket, a skin for each of the four Vault Hunters, and a Global Weapon skin. On top of that, new legendary loot will be available to farm, including two guns and a shield that use the Terror mechanic, as as well as a grenade mode. Finally, new Anointed loot drops from Haunted enemies, Ghosts, and Captain Haunt will have a chance to have Terror-based modifiers.
