The cartoons you used to watch as a kid will soon be available via a new subscription-video service from Time Warner's Turner and Warner Bros.

Titles such as Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo and the Flinstones will join Tom & Jerry, the Jetsons and many others on Boomerang, the new streaming platform that will cost you $5 per month. If the name sounds familiar, that's because there's also a TV channel featuring pretty much the same content.

This is the first time the full collection featuring over 5,000 cartoons from Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes and MGM is offered online.

The TV channel isn't going anywhere, but with this new streaming service, Turner is hoping not only to make some extra money but also to reach a new generation of kids growing with a tablet or smartphone in their hands.

New exclusive content

Boomerang will be the place where adults can relive their childhoods or where parents can share the cartoons they grew up with with their children. It will also be the only place where exclusive new episodes of Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry are shown, much to the dismay of Boomerang TV fans.

Additionally, the video on demand service will host exclusive original series. The first will be "Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz," a new spin on the classic tale, coming from Warner Bros., as well as "Wacky Races," a reboot of the classic series.

"Boomerang is a beloved brand that has always had multi-generational appeal and some of the greatest animated shows ever created. Our ongoing partnership with Warner Bros. around this new premium service continues our strategy of making sure our fans are engaged with fresh and fun content whenever and wherever they want it," said Christina Miller, current president of Boomerang, Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim.

The new Boomerang streaming service will be available both online and on iOS and Android devices. No release date has been announced yet, however, but it will likely happen in the next few months.
