A difficult challenger for those who love puzzle games

Bonfire Peaks is the next project developed by Corey Martin and Alan Hazelden (Draknek). The two people teamed up for this challenging puzzle game that's expected to launch on PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam, Itch, and the Epic Games Store in Q3 2021.

If you're not familiar with either of those two names, let's just say that both have been involved in the indie scene for quite a long time. Corey Martin, a designer, artist, and musician, is responsible for indie titles like Pipe Push Paradise and Hiding Spot.

On the other hand, Draknek & Friends are the puzzling powerhouses behind A Monster's Expedition, A Good Snowman is Hard to Build, Cosmic Express, and Sokobond.

The Bonfire Peaks reveal released this week gives us a glimpse at the gameplay. From what we can see in the footage, players must move onwards, upwards, and leave nothing behind. The main objective of the game is to climb to the top of a mysterious island ruin, burning everything they own along the way.

Developers promise many hours of masterfully designed puzzle content, a breathtakingly lovely voxel overworld, and not a single second of filler content. Apparently, one of the game's mechanics involves burning your belongings to a crisp (in the game, not in real life).

We also learned that the game has more than 100 very difficult levels scattered around an atmospheric overworld. What's interesting about Bonfire Peaks is that you can leave any levels that you're stuck on for later.

Those of you who love expertly designed puzzles, voxel-based visuals, and high-quality content can now wishlist Bonfire Peaks on Steam, ahead of the game's launch later this year. Last but not least, we'll keep an eye out for information about the game's exact release date, so stay tuned for more on this one.
