14 DAY TRIAL // Bobbi Kristina Brown, the 22-year-old daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston and ex-husband Bobby Brown, was laid to rest yesterday, next to her mother. A memorial took place over the weekend and sadly ended in scandal, as aunt Leolah Brown got herself kicked out when she started yelling at Pat Houston, blaming her for Krissi’s death.
That wasn’t the only inappropriate thing to happen at the memorial, it has emerged. Someone snapped a photo of Krissi in her casket, and it’s been sold to the media after a fierce bidding war, TMZ reports.
Death photo leaks, will be published
This isn’t the same photo that popped up on the market at the beginning of June, shortly after Krissi was moved into hospice care and the family knew they no longer had any reason to hope she would wake up.
She had been in a coma since January, when she was found face-down, unresponsive in the bathtub of the home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon.
Until June, when she was moved to the hospice, the family kept hoping her brain damage would still allow her to live a normal life and especially that doctors would be able to bring her out of the medically induced coma she was put under after she was revived.
That photo too went up for a lot of money, with reports saying it was snatched by The National Enquirer. The tab did run a photo of Krissi on her “deathbed” last month, but rumor has it it’s just a recreation.
“A photo of Bobbi Kristina’s body, lying in her casket, has been sold to a media outlet,” TMZ reports. “Someone snapped a pic of BK during the viewing, which took place the day before the funeral. We’re told the winning offer topped the $100,000 mark [€91,151].”
If some media outlet paid this kind of money for one photo, chances are it will also publish it very soon. Since The Enquirer pulled a similar stunt in 2012, when it ran a photo of Whitney in her casket, it’s believed to have used the same insider to snap this one too.
The families are blaming each other
Clearly, this is a family member looking for a big payday who did this, so no wonder the Houstons and the Browns are blaming each other for the leak, as per the same report.
The two families have been feuding for years, with serious trouble starting after Whitney’s marriage to Bobby ended in divorce in 2007, when the Houstons blamed Bobby for introducing her to hard drugs.
When Whitney died in 2012 by drowning in the bathtub after a drug overdose, the fighting became even more serious. The Houstons barely stopped short of calling Bobby Brown a killer, because Whiney had developed the drug addiction during their time together.
Krissi’s subsequent problems and her death, in circumstances strangely similar to her mother’s, did little to make the two families come to better terms. The leak of the death photo is, in this sense, like the final drop.
