BLU Confirms Windows 10 Mobile Update for Win HD Model

No word on whether the Win JR will get the update or not

You’re probably familiar with US-based handset maker BLU, which has specialized in bringing cheap Android smartphones to the market. Nevertheless, the company has also secured a partnership with Microsoft, so it launched a few Windows Phone handsets as well.

The most recent ones, BLU Win HD LTE and BLU Win JR LTE, were rolled out in India last month. And like in the case of its Android counterparts, the company is keeping prices low on its Windows Phone devices.

Now, while the BLU Win HD LTE has launched and ships out with Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box, today we bring you some good news related to the software of this model. The company itself has confirmed on Twitter that the device will be updated to Windows 10 Mobile, shortly after the new OS gets released to the public.

BLU answered the question related to the Win HD after a Twitter user posted it, but it gives no other information, like expected time of arrival. We’re simply being told that “Yes, it will get it once it’s released.”

BLU Win HD is a low-end device

It’s good to hear that BLU is prepping the Windows 10 update for its Win HD model, but the question is whether the smaller version, meaning the Win JR, will also get the update.

Anyway, in case you forgot, BLU’s affordable Windows Phone handset was originally launched in September 2014. The phone features a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and 294 ppi. The powerhouse of the terminal is a quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor working hand in hand with Adreno 302 GPU.

BLU throws in 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot. In the photography department, things are kept to a minimum, with the phone boasting an 8MP frontal camera with autofocus and LED flash. The selfie snapper is not that great at 2MP capacity, but at least you’ll be able to shot an image or two.

The phone is offered by BLU in vivid coloring options including Neon Orange, Neon Green, Neon Yellow, and White. And with Windows 10 Mobile on board, this budget-friendly phone is bound to get even sweeter.
