Each new launched DLC will introduce new mechanics

We're less than a day away from the official launch of Legacy of the Void, the last chapter of the Starcraft 2 saga, which means many fans of the RTS genre have probably secured their copies of the game.

Even though Blizzard confirmed that Legacy of the Void would bring closure to everything that'd been happening in Starcraft 2, the developer will continue the story in the game through DLCs.

Blizzard's President Mike Morhaime took the stage at BlizzCon 2015 over the weekend and announced that his company planned to launch a series of DLCs that would introduce new gameplay mechanics.

The first DLC is called Nova Cover Ops and will have Nova as protagonist. Since that's the case, players will be able to make use of a wide array of spec-ops and stealth abilities that the Terran Ghost possesses.

For those who don't remember, Nova should have been the main star of another game in the Starcraft universe called Starcraft: Ghost, which was canceled by Blizzard more than a decade ago.

Additional skins and voice pack coming next year

Blizzard announced that Nova Cover Ops DLC would contain three new RTS (real-time strategy) missions, to be delivered all at once in a single pack.

According to Blizzard, the newly announced DLC is not just extra content for Starcraft addicts. “What we're doing here isn't just some small afterthoughts to StarCraft. This is pivoting StarCraft to a new paradigm. That's a big deal. It's a shift for us as a team,” said lead producer Tim Morten.

Nova Cover Ops will be released sometime in spring 2016, but an exact release date should be announced later on.

Unfortunately, Blizzard did not share details on the price, so we don't even know if the mission pack will be free to those who own all Starcraft 2 expansions, or everyone will have to pay for it.
