14 DAY TRIAL // Blizzard has revealed that the Beta for Overwatch is starting on October 27, but don't get too excited about it. Only "ze Americans" (North and South) will play it for now, and the Europeans and Asians will follow sometime in the future.
A lot of talking about Overwatch has been going around, and it looks like people will finally get their hands on it. The strange thing is that only some users will get access to it, but presumably this has to do with the server infrastructure. Blizzard is probably expecting a lot of players for their new FPS multiplayer game and they want to make sure that their servers can handle it.
Quite a few multiplayer games are being tested these days. The Beta for Star Wars Battlefront has just ended, the Overwatch Beta is about to begin, and the Alpha testing stage starts for the multiplayer part of the next Doom game. If you love multiplayer titles, you're going to have a hard time keeping pace with all of them, especially financially, since none will be free to play.
The Beta sign-up for Overwatch is now open
As usual, if you want to play the new Overwatch you will have to sign up for the Beta, and if you've been really good, you might get picked.
"We’re aiming to accomplish two primary goals with our public beta test: First, get tons of top-notch feedback on the gameplay—including balance, feel, and fun—to help us make Overwatch the best team-based shooter on the planet. Second, we want to hammer the heck out of our tech, including stress-testing our server infrastructure and making sure the game runs great on the widest variety of systems possible," reads the announcement made by Blizzard.
This is a special kind of Beta. There will be two kinds of testing being done, a closed Beta and Beta Test Weekends. As you can imagine, one is for a small number of players, and the other one will let a lot more people in. The first Beta Test Weekend is scheduled to start right after BlizzCon, which will take place on November 6 - 7.
Remember to sign up for the Beta, otherwise you won't be able to play at all.
