14 DAY TRIAL // Fresh details have emerged on the shocking split between country darlings Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, arguably the most popular couple in country music. Blake filed the divorce papers quietly about 2 weeks ago, and the divorce was pronounced final hours ago.
The rumor mill had it that Blake and his infamously wandering eye might have been to blame for the split, i.e. he had cheated on her and she finally had enough and walked out on him. TMZ claims to have it on good authority that it was the other way around.
Miranda cheated, he finally got confirmation of it
According to the report, which cites unnamed but admittedly reliable sources close to the now-former couple, Blake had been suspecting Miranda of cheating on him for many months.
He first became suspicious of her about 2 years ago, when she had Chris Young as her opener on the tour, and there were some rumors about a possible romantic relationship between the two.
The report makes it sound as if Blake finally got confirmation that it happened, but this wasn’t what got him to file the divorce papers.
“Our sources say the reason Blake filed 2 weeks ago was because he received certain information about Miranda and the other guy that elevated things in Blake’s head from rumor to fact,” TMZ says. The other guy is not a singer, apparently, so chances are he’s not a familiar face to fans.
Divorce is not amicable
In the statement released jointly minutes after the divorce became final, Blake and Miranda assured fans that the divorce was amicable, the result of their realization that this was “not the future” they had imagined.
Translation: the marriage was simply not working anymore, so they decided that the best option was to move on from it and split.
The same insiders reveal for TMZ that the breakup was anything but friendly, as Blake refused to have anything more to do with his cheating wife. Apparently, he even gave her a deadline to move out of their Oklahoma ranch, and take her animals with her.
