Canadian company BlackBerry has just released a new update for BBM application on Android device, which brings it to par with BlackBerry and iOS versions.

The new update contains some new features and improvements, as well as many bug fixes and under-the-hood enhancements.

Those with access to BlackBerry Beta Zone might have already tested some of the features that have been pushed to BBM for Android since the beta version had these improvements for quite some time now.

Some of the most important changes BlackBerry added in this version of BBM include better search function and enhancements to Privacy & Controls features.

First of all, BBM users on Android devices will now be able to search their BBM chats, contacts, groups and channels, which wasn't possible in previous versions.

We can now retract pictures and messages sent

Furthermore, when it comes with Privacy & Control features, BlackBerry added the options to retract pictures, retract all sent messages in a chat, and retract and edit messages in multi-person and group chats.

But that's not all, as BBM users will now be able to delete messages in their chats on their device. Also, you will now be able to request a contact's location with enhancements to Glympse.

Another new feature included in this update is the ability to like posts in your Feed, as well as the option to broadcast messages to categories of your contacts.

As with all updates for BBM, BlackBerry also included some bug fixes and performance improvements, which should provide a smoother user experience.

These are all the changes included in this update, so if you had expected something else, look for it in the next beta version.

If you don't have the application, you can now download BBM for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.
