The standard version is powered by a Snapdragon 808 CPU

BlackBerry launched its first Android smartphone with some success. The first PRIV stocks have been depleted in just a few days and new units will arrive in store in the next couple of days.

The PRIV is not only the first Android smartphone launched by the Canadian company, but it's also the most powerful BlackBerry handset.

The smartphone comes equipped with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, an Adreno 418 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

Even though BlackBerry has decided not to use the more powerful 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset inside the PRIV, it can still be put in the flagship category.

Also, it looks like the Canadian company plans to launch an even more powerful BlackBerry PRIV version, one that will employ the services of Samsung's Exynos 7420 chipset.

It also comes with a better front-facing camera

The information hasn't been confirmed by company yet, but a BlackBerry smartphone with model number STV100-1 has recently appeared at GFXBench with slightly different specs.

For those unfamiliar, STV100-1 is the model number for PRIV, so this doesn't seem to be another BlackBerry smartphone powered by Android operating system.

So, this STV100-1 model is listed with 2.1GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 processor, Mali-T760MP8 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

Although the benchmark results claim the smartphone sports a 5.1-inch display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, the device is likely to pack a 5.4-inch display.

The rest of the phone's specs are a bit confusing, as they don't really match BlackBerry PRIV's. For example, the device should pack a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, whereas the PRIV comes with a much lower 2-megapixel secondary camera.

Last but not least, the 18-megapixel camera on the back is said to feature full HD (1080p) video recording, but the PRIV is capable of recording 4K video.
