BlackBerry PRIV was only available in a few regions until recently, but the Canadian company has confirmed it will begin launching the smartphone in 31 countries.

Customers in Italy will be pleased to know that BlackBerry has already brought the PRIV in their country, but we doubt they will be happy about the price.

According to Italian blog MondoBlackBerry, the PRIV has been officially introduced in Italy for no less than €850 ($930) outright.

Considering the fact that Italian customers were able to purchase the BlackBerry PRIV via Amazon for only €790 ($860), the retail price recommended by the Canadian company is clearly too high.

Not to mention that, at that price, BlackBerry PRIV can't compete with other flagship smartphones from companies such as Samsung, LG and HTC.

The good news is BlackBerry has announced it will make the PRIV available through its ShopBlackBerry retail channel beginning 2016, so there's hope for a lower price starting next year.

BlackBerry PRIV has already been released in the United States, Canada and the UK, and according to the company's CEO John Chen, it's been pretty popular among consumers.

Another Android smartphone from BlackBerry depends on PRIV's success

The Canadian company hopes to boost BlackBerry PRIV's sales once the device is introduced in more countries. The question is whether or not the company will be able to ramp up the production of the handset, which might be in high demand in some countries.

If PRIV is successful enough, BlackBerry has promised it will launch another high-end smartphone at a slightly lower price in 2016. Let's hope the PRIV will do well in early 2016 so that another Android device from BlackBerry will become reality.
