The PRIV, BlackBerry's first Android smartphone, was initially launched in a few countries. However, the company's CEO John Chen promised BlackBerry PRIV would be released in 31 regions this year, but he did not disclose the names of these countries.

BlackBerry fans in India will be pleased to know that they will get the PRIV by the end of the month.

According to a new report coming from fonearena, BlackBerry has already sent invitations for the PRIV's launch event that is scheduled for January 28.

Although the PRIV might be officially introduced in India in late January, it's unclear whether or not the Android smartphone will be available for purchase right away.

There's a high chance that customers may have to wait a few more days for the PRIV to hit shelves, but that shouldn't be an issue.

For the time being, there's no word on price and availability, but we can safely assume BlackBerry will provide us with that information on January 28, when the PRIV will be announced in India.

BlackBerry PRIV will only be available in black color in India, but it will come with “the full ecosystem of Android apps,” as well as some exclusive BlackBerry apps.

4G LTE support, but no dual-SIM

Specs-wise, the PRIV belongs to the elite tier as the smartphone is powered by a 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, coupled with an Adreno 418 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

Also, the smartphone packs 32GB of storage inside, which can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card slot. There's also an 18-megapixel camera on the back, which features phase auto-detection focus, dual-LED flash, OIS (optical image stabilization), and 4K video recording.

BlackBerry PRIV boasts a secondary 5-megapixel camera on the front and offers 4G LTE support, along with Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0 with Slimport, NFC (Near Field Communication), and GPS with AGPS.

The smartphone is powered by a 3,410 mAh battery and sports a 5.43-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
