BlackBerry announced the BlackBerry DTEK50 a few weeks ago, and it seems that, although the release date was set for August 8, consumers will see the smartphone arrive on August 15. BlackBerry DTEK50 is already available for sale at various retailers in the Netherlands.

BlackBerry DTEK50 is available for purchase at various retailers in the Netherlands while its price reaches about €339, according to GSMHelpDesk. The official BlackBerry online store in the Netherlands still lists the smartphone as up for pre-order. Meanwhile, the smartphone should arrive in stores in Canada on August 15 for a price of around $429.

BlackBerry has advertised the DTEK50 as the world's most secure Android smartphone, although it's a redesigned Alcatel Idol 4 with security features provided by BlackBerry. The handset comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display and packs a Snapdragon 617 chipset. In addition, it has 3GB of RAM onboard, 16GB of internal memory, and a 13MP rear camera coupled with an 8MP unit on the front.

DTEK50 is the second BlackBerry smartphone to run Android

BlackBerry DTEK50 draws power from a 2,610mAh battery and boasts lots of security enhancements. The phone encrypts user data, like personal files or business data, and comes with built-in malware protection, aside from backup wipe and restore capabilities for data. The device runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 and features built-in NFC technology but lacks a fingerprint sensor.

Other than that, users can connect with Tap and Pay in order to make mobile payments, as well as Android Beam and Tap and Go. The smartphone supports WiFi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, NFC, and a microUSB v2.0 port for charging and data transfer.

The DTEK50 is the second BlackBerry handset to run Android, after the Priv. BlackBerry is also rumored to release two more Android smartphones, and one of them will come with a physical keyboard. The device could debut in the following months, and more information about them is bound to surface soon.
