14 DAY TRIAL // BlackBerry hasn't yet announced another new smartphone after TCL introduced the KeyOne at Mobile World Congress (MWC) last week. However, rumors about a new mid-range BlackBerry-branded smartphone emerged in the last couple of weeks.
We reported a few days ago about a new smartphone with model number BBC100-1, which could be launched in Indonesia by a company called PT BB Merah Putih. It looks like the smartphone has already been listed and is now available for pre-order in Indonesia.
Moreover, a press image and the name under which the phone will be marketed have been leaked as well. Apparently, the smartphone will be sold in Indonesia as BlackBerry Aurora for the equivalent of $260 outright.
But there's a catch, as the smartphone has been listed at Lazada, an aggregator that allows third-party retailers to sell products through its platform, which means we have no way of knowing if the listing is legit or not.
However, the press image comes in line with the live pictures that we've reported about earlier this week, so we can safely assume that the BlackBerry phone listed is the same.
As far as specs go, there aren't any details on the retailer's website, so we're left with what we know from the previous reports. If you haven't read anything about the so-called BlackBerry Aurora, here is a quick rundown of its features.
The Aurora is said to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Furthermore, the smartphone is supposed to sport a 5.5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution, as well as a generous 3,000 mAh battery.
It's likely to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system right out of the box, and it comes with dual-SIM support and 4G LTE.
The phone hasn't been announced yet, so we're still waiting for official word from PT BB Merah Putih, the company that handles distribution of BlackBerry devices in Indonesia.
