Developer SuperScarySnakes and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment have just confirmed that Black Future '88, a synth-punk roguelike action shooter, will be launched on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on November 21. Also, a physical version of the game on the Nintendo Switch will be available in retail stores in 2020 for those who like to collect these things.

The premise is quite interesting and it's well implemented in the games as well. Black Future '88 is set in a grim alternate history where it’s always 1988. Players will be fighting their way through a non-stop dungeon-crawling ascent against homicidal robots, cutthroats, bosses and more to exact revenge on the man who destroyed the world.

You are one of the last remaining survivors of a nuclear cataclysm, and since this is roguelike game, you’ll climb a procedurally-generated tower through a merciless onslaught of fire, lasers, and steel. Once you die, you start over, but you'll retain some of the upgrades you unlocked and weapons.

The developers also added the time element, which makes each run more intense. You only have 18 minutes till you die, so you'll have to make the best out of it or try and prolong your run by finding items specifically designed to add more time to your life.

According to developers, the only way to kill your main target before your time runs out is strategically choosing and combining dozens of unique guns, buffs, and curses. Players will be given the option to choose from several characters with a huge arsenal of weapons and powers as they shoot, slash and dash through anything standing between you and the top of the world.

The nightmarish neon-lit retro dystopia does feature multiplayer mode and lets you play with a friend in two-player local co-op. Interestingly enough, you can measure your mettle against other players by taking on special daily challenges to scale the global leaderboard.

Moreover, if you choose to play it on PC, you'll be able to join a friend’s game online without needing to own a copy themselves, as Black Future ’88 will fully support Steam’s new Remote Play Together feature at launch.
