EA and BioWare have just revealed some of the improvements the upcoming Mass Effect Legendary Edition is getting during development. Well, these enhancements should already be in the game, as Mass Effect Legendary Edition is scheduled for release on May 14.

In a blog post, BioWare provides information not only about combat tuning but also about all the additional gameplay improvements and rebalancing changes. For example, accuracy (including reticle bloom and weapon sway) in the first Mass Effect game has now been tuned across all weapons to make it easier for players to maintain more consistent firepower while managing their overheat meter.

Also, all abilities have been rebalanced in the original Mass Effect game. BioWare published a long list of abilities that have been changed, such as Immunity, but there are other major gameplay changes made to the first Mass Effect game to modernize it. One such important aspect is the fact that Shepard will be able to sprint out of combat, while melee attacks have been mapped to a button press rather than automatically occurring based on proximity to an enemy.

More importantly, all weapons can now be used by any class without penalty and weapons cool down much faster. Medi-gel usage has been improved too, along with inventory management (items can now be flagged as “Junk” and can be converted into Omni-gel or sold to merchants at once, inventory and stores now have sorting functionality).

Other gameplay improvements in the Legendary Edition mentioned by Bioware include tweaks to boss fights and enemies in the first game, cover has been improved across all three games, and squadmates can now be commanded independently of each other in Mass Effect.

Furthermore, experience has been rebalanced in the first game, just like ammo drops in Mass Effect 2. Last but not least, the famous vehicle in the original Mass Effect, the M-35 Mako has been calibrated to perform better. Improved handling and camera controls, new thrusters, and the removal of XP penalty while in the Mako are just some of the changes that will benefit players.

Of course, the improvements don't end here, so make sure to read BioWare's blog post for all the gameplay changes in Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
