Bindi Irwin is thrilled to join the celebrity cast of Dancing With the Stars for season 21

Season 21 of ABC’s hit dancing competition Dancing With the Stars premieres in September, and as promised, the first celebrity contestant was announced some hours ago. It’s Bindi Irwin, the 17-year-old daughter of the late (and beloved) Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.

The rest of the contestants will be announced at the beginning of next month, and a new report on Hollywood Life claims that Nick Carter and Alexa Vega’s names will be on that list.

Meanwhile, we have Bindi, who is just as upbeat and bubbly, fun and eager for a challenge as her father was. She stopped by Good Morning America for the big announcement and she admitted that she was more scared of the judges on the panel than she ever was of crocodiles or other dangerous animals she came into contact with on a daily basis.

Still, she said, this had been a dream of hers for years and she was never the kind to back down from a challenge, especially one that scared her.

She wanted to inspire others to follow their dreams no matter what they might be and to never stop pushing themselves, because this was the only way to improvement and a life well-lived.

For the time being, Bindi doesn’t know which pro dancer she’ll be paired with, but whoever he is, she hopes he’ll be patient and have a deep love of animals.
