14 DAY TRIAL // The other day, photos of Bindi Irwin and her pro dancing partner Derek Hough, favorites on the current season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, rehearsing for the famous lift from the “Dirty Dancing” movie emerged online.
This confirmed rumors that, for the night when they would have to recreate dance scenes from movies or music videos, they would bring Baby and Johnny from the 1987 classic back to life. Suddenly, their performance became the most anticipated moment of the night.
As you can see in the video below, it didn’t disappoint: not only did they nail 2 iconic moves from the film, which starred Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze, but Bindi impressed the judges to such an extent that she got a perfect score: 40 points out of 40 possible.
Both she and Derek admitted to being very nervous about the routine. It was difficult choreography, but at the same time, it was so iconic that people’s expectations for their version would be very high and they didn’t want to disappoint.
“I’ve honestly never been more nervous in my entire life,” Derek explained, adding that he had “never done a lift before.”
In the rehearsal footage, viewers at home saw that Jennifer Grey herself had stopped by the studio to see how Bindi was doing and even praised her for being “more of who Baby is than I was.”
