Billionaire Warren Buffett, who is also one of the richest persons in the world, has recently made the switch from an old-school flip phone to an iPhone 11, and surprisingly, he found basic things like making a phone call incredibly difficult.

In an interview with Yahoo Finance, Buffett explains that Apple CEO Tim Cook himself helped him to get used to the iPhone, but he still doesn’t know how to make phone calls or use any apps.

“I went out to California, and Tim Cook very patiently spent hours trying to move me up to the level of the average two-year-old. And didn’t quite make it,” he explains, adding that the iPhone 11 is an “unbelievable product.”

The iPhone learning curve

While it’s pretty hard to understand how someone who doesn’t know how to use a product can tell this is unbelievable, Buffet says he didn’t bring the iPhone to the interview because he wouldn’t know what to do if someone called him.

“Yesterday, I was someplace,” he explains. “Somehow I was having a little trouble just getting into — but this is only me, any two-year-old could do this — but I was having a little trouble getting to the part where I actually phone somebody.”

While making a phone call on an iPhone (and actually on Android too) comes down to just a simple tap on the phone icon, some people struggling with the whole thing isn’t necessarily an issue that’s caused by Apple’s device, but a result of the switch from ancient phones, like the flip model that Buffet was using, to new-generation mobile devices.

On the other hand, it’s a known thing that Apple products come with a short learning curve, which means that the majority of users figure out how to use most of its features in a matter of days.
