iPhone SE Plus reportedly delayed to late 2021

After launching the 2020 iPhone SE, Apple is now believed to be working on a bigger version of the device that would come with a 5.5-inch screen.

And this makes total sense, especially when looking at the model the iPhone SE is based on.

First and foremost, the new iPhone SE is mostly an upgraded version of the iPhone 8, as it uses both its design and body. In other words, the iPhone SE is an iPhone 8 with upgraded internals, sharing pretty much the same look and part of the features, including the home button with integrated Touch ID.

The iPhone 8 lineup, however, also included a Plus model with a 5.5-inch screen and a dual-camera configuration, and by the looks of things, Apple wants to use that one too in order to launch a bigger iPhone SE.

Expected next year

Likely called iPhone SE Plus, the new phone was originally scheduled for early 2021, one year after the main model, but now there’s a chance the company pushes it a few months later due to reasons that are yet to be disclosed.

The information comes with Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who says that the larger iPhone SE is now expected to go live in the second half of 2021. As we know already, the fall launch is mostly used or Apple’s premium iPhones, so the company either shows the new iPhone SE Plus alongside these models or just waits for a later date to introduce it.

It goes without saying this is all just a rumor for the time being, so a certain amount of skepticism is definitely recommended. But at first glance, an iPhone SE Plus not only that makes sense, but it’s also something that Apple should launch as part of its attempt to expand the iPhone portfolio with more affordable models.
