A new update called Beyond: Chapter Two has been released for Elite Dangerous, marking the introduction of new ships and various other fixes and balancing changes.

Frontier Developments continues to advance the narrative and the gameplay in Elite Dangerous with yet another content update for the space sim. This is part of a much bigger plan to improve and expand upon the already famous game, and it should come as no surprise.

What it’s interesting though is the content that’s being added with each new chapter. Some indications were put forth by the developers regarding the future of the game, but for the most part, users are still in the dark before updates are actually released.

New ships, new weapons, and new missions

As usual, with the exception of alien activity within the Milky Way, new ships are usually the focal point of any updates. Beyond: Chapter Two adds a couple of them, Alliance Challenger (based on the Alliance Chieftain), and Krait Mk.II.

This second ship is getting all the attention because the Krait Mk.II looks really well and seems to be exceptionally designed. It’s not much different than the existing Python, but at least it’s something new.

Other new features include fresh wing mining missions, new high threat USS’s, and missions that can direct players to them, some updates to the crime and punishment system, some new weapons, and even an expanded narrative.

To be fair, it’s not a large update, but there is another one coming down the line that’s supposed to make the mining process much more fun, and which should help users get into it in higher numbers. As it stands right now, mining is just something that you need to do, and not something that you want to do.

The Beyond: Chapter Two for Elite Dangerous is now available on all available platforms.
