Beyonce has gone and shattered yet another record, although this time it’s on Instagram. Following her post in which the singer announces she's pregnant with twins, fans hurried to give their best and like the photo, helping to make it the most liked picture in the history of the service.

At the time of writing, 13 hours after it was posted, there are 7.2 million likes on the photo and over 364,000 comments. With such a feat, it was quick to claim the title of the most liked image on Instagram.

The Guinness World Record is apparently in the process of updating its page dedicated to this particular record since it generates an error when clicking it. They did acknowledge the feat in a tweet reading “With 6.6 million+ likes @Beyonce has broken the record for Most liked image on #Instagram after announcing she and Jay-Z are expecting twins,” reads the message posted some four hours ago.

Nice try, Selena

The previous record was held by another singer, Selena Gomez, who managed to gather 6.3 million likes for her post of a Coca-Cola ad featuring a bottle with one of her own song lyrics on it. The 6.3 million likes were gathered by Beyonce in just under eight hours. By contrast, Gomez’s photo has been on Instagram since July 2016, so it’s had plenty of time to gather the likes.

“We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters,” reads Beyonce’s post.

It shouldn’t be a surprise for anyone that Beyonce’s announcement set a new Instagram record. After all, back in 2011 when she announced her pregnancy with Blue Ivy, she broke another social media record by generating the most Tweets per second of any event until that point - 8,868.
