Bethesda announced a new game called Fallout 76 and everyone got their hopes up, but it looks like it’s not going to be what people have been expecting.

Bethesda has been teasing a new Fallout game for a couple of days now, and they finally made the announcement. Actually, they released a teaser that would imply that a fresh FPS is in the works and that it’s called Fallout 76.

We have to keep in mind that the studio usually waits and works for a long time on new games, so the announcement that a Fallout FPS is being built really took everyone by surprise. It turns out that people might have been right to be skeptical if we’re to believe the latest information about the game.

It’s something, something online

One unlucky gamer said that if Bethesda announces a new game and not a remake of some sort, he’ll drink a bottle of Tabasco sauce. After the announcement, the gamer went through with his promise. After today’s information, he probably regrets the decision.

First of all, Vault 76 has been referenced before in both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 games. It was supposed to be opened only 20 years after the nuclear war, and the residents should have started to repopulate the Earth.

With the exception of a short teaser for Fallout 76, not much is known about the game. Now, according to report on Kotaku, Fallout 76 is actually a survival online FPS, very much similar to Rust and other such games.

Apparently, it started its life as a prototype for Fallout 4 multiplayer, but it evolved into something else. The community has yet to absorb this new information, and it’s unclear whether it’s true or not. More details about Fallout 76 will be revealed on June 11, at E3.
