14 DAY TRIAL // AV-TEST has conducted a new antivirus research to determine the solutions offering the best malware protection in the enterprise, and the results are not all surprising.
The top-rated products are the ones that have been leading the market for quite a while now, including security software from Kaspersky, Symantec, and Trend Micro.
This time, however, Kaspersky has managed to top the charts with two different products, namely Endpoint Security and Small Office Security, both using the same engine and scoring the maximum number of points in protection, performance, and usability tests (18 points overall).
Symantec’s Endpoint Protection Cloud and Trend Micro Office Scan also offered top-notch performance and earned the maximum 18 points, while Bitdefender Endpoint Security got really close with 17.5 points, having scored 5.5 points in usability tests.
Windows Defender offers strong protection
Two different security solutions received the lowest score of 14.5 points, namely F-Secure PSB Computer Protection and Palo Alto Networks Traps. The first got 6 points for protection, 5.5 for performance, and only 3 for usability, while the latter earned 4.5, 5.0, and 5.0 points, respectively.
G Data’s Antivirus Business solution also performed below expectations with a total score of just 15.5 points following 5.5 points received for protection, 5 points for performance, and another 5 points for usability.
Of particular highlight is the performance of Microsoft’ Windows Defender Antivirus, which scored no less than 17 points in the research, with flawless performance in the protection tests. Microsoft itself has applauded the protection offered to users in the enterprise, but Windows Defender is also capable of defending systems in the case of home users, though not the same rich security arsenal is available here.
