Benedict Cumberbatch has one of the most loyal and active fanbases online, so when he was cast as Hamlet in a play in London, pandemonium started. All the Cumberladies, as he likes to call them, were dying for a chance to see him live.

Last week was previews week and fans still queued outside the Barbican Center for as much as 36 hours for the chance to see their favorite actor in one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. Some of them were so eager about the whole experience that they thought they might take something home with them as well, so they took out their cameras and cell phones and recorded the play.

Saturday’s show was halted twice because of such interruptions, reports in the British media say.

To prevent even more incidents of this kind, Cumberbatch took matters into his own hands and addressed the crowd waiting for him outside the stage door (despite several warnings telling the fans not to do so because he would not pose for pictures or sign autographs).

Check out the video below to see what he had to say. At the same time, you will also see why the fans love him so much, aside from his talent: he is incredibly polite and well spoken, and can make a strong point whenever he asks something of them.
