BlackBerry has just released two major updates for BBM on Android and BlackBerry 10 applications. Both updates bring major new features and improvements, but more importantly removes fees for some services that required subscriptions.

BBM users will be pleased to know that all Privacy and Control features are now completely free on both Android and BlackBerry 10 platforms. This means that you won’t have to pay any longer for features like Timed messages and photos, Retract, Private Chat, and Edit features.

On top of that, developers also added some new features and improvements to the Android version of BBM, such as the ability to mute notifications for a multi-person chat, as well as option to forward messages from one chat to another.

Also, BBM users can now scroll through all pictures shared within a 1:1 or multi-person chat. If BBM for Android is your main instant messenger, then you will definitely be happy to know that you can now choose if you want pictures taken within BBM chats saved to your device.

Support for Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been added too

Another major improvement added by developers is Android 6.0 Marshmallow for BBM application. Moreover, improved BBM voice quality has been implemented too. Last but not least, performance improvements and some bug fixes have been included in the update.

The BlackBerry 10 version of BBM received similar new features and improvements with few exceptions. Aside from that, BlackBerry 10 users will be able to delete messages just from their view of the chat.

Some retract-related features have also been added, such as the option to retract and edit messages in group chats, as well as the ability to retract all sent messages when users end a chat.

If you don’t have the application yet, you can now download BBM for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.

For BlackBerry 10 users, BBM can be downloaded for free via BlackBerry World. It should run smoothly on devices powered by BlackBerry 10 and up.
