Battlefield V is the name of the new game in the series, and it follows directly after Battlefield I, if that makes any sense.

Electronic Arts is running out of ideas when it comes to the numbering of their Battlefield games. Battlefield I was not the first game in the series, but it did take place during World War I, the first massive war in history.

Now, according to anonymous sources that spoke with VentureBeat, the next Battlefield in the series will take place during World War II, and it will be called Battlefield V if that makes any sense. On the other hand, using the same logic and naming it Battlefield II would have created a lot of confusion.

Are we still looting?

The gaming community probably hasn’t forgotten the whole business with the loot boxes, and they are going to keep a close eye on the company and their plans for this game. Although, it’s hard to imagine that they won’t implement any type of loot boxes.

It’s been almost ten years since the previous Battlefield 1943 that took place during World War II, and after a brief wandering, the company is now returning to the most significant conflict this planet has ever witnessed.

Besides an image that popped up on Reddit and the anonymous information regarding the setting, not much is known about the upcoming title. We can surmise that it’s going to be developed by Dice as well and that it will be using the same engine. Also, we can only hope that they continue to implement a single player campaign.

Battlefield 1 was a great success for Electronic Arts, and a return to WWII might prove to be even better if the company manages the loot boxes with grace. Keep in mind that the community was powerful enough to affect the sales of a Star Wars game, so they won’t have a problem with a Battlefield title if they don’t like what’s happening.

Battlefield V will most likely launch towards the end of the years, as it always does.
