Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that they are working on a new project for Battlefield 4, called the Classic Map Project, which is designed to deliver a new battle space for the community, based on the history of the series and the most interesting environments that it has delivered.

Dragon Valley was chosen based on the desires of the community and a set of characteristics that the team itself was looking for in order to deliver a solid gameplay experience.

At the moment, the prototype version of the remade Dragon Valley map for Battlefield 4 is available on the Community Test Environment, and the company is encouraging all those who are playing to try out the design and to offer feedback about it.

DICE says that it has included repairable bridges in the remake and it has tweaked foliage, cloud cover and sightlines in order to improve the overall player experience with the map.

A set of changes linked to weapon balance and other gameplay features was also introduced on the CTE for Battlefield 4 alongside Dragon Valley, which will be offered for testing for a two-week period.

The studio is still exploring how to tweak gameplay modes to suit the battlefield.

DICE continues to also work on the Community Map Project

The studio is clearly not done with Battlefield 4 and is also proceeding with the map, which is being created using the choices of the fan base, although at the moment it does not plan to offer it for testing.

It seems that there are plans to launch the extra environment for free before the end of the year, though.

Recently, Battlefield 4 received a new spring update, which introduced five new weapons and a range of other tweaks for balance.

DICE has said that, as long as a player community is still interested in the shooter, it will continue to offer more content and updates.

The company is at the same time heavily involved with the Star Wars Battlefront project, which will be introduced on November 17.

During E3 2015, the team revealed both the Walker Assault gameplay and the Survival mode for the experience, both of which are designed to appeal to fans of the movies and to those who love the Battlefield titles.
