Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that they are introducing a new piece of content for Battlefield 4, called Night Operations, which is designed to give players a new night map.

The two companies are saying that the coming environments will feature "a new sound landscape, destructible lights, and a different sort of gameplay. This lead to us focusing on the creation of Zavod: Graveyard Shift, based on Zavod 311, a new map that brings with it several improvements and tweaks to allow for more stealthy and tactical gameplay."

DICE is tweaking active and passive spotting in Night Operations in order to make flanking easier to execute, and gamers will also have a better chance to actually spot the direction footsteps are coming from.

Gadgets and tools associated with night combat have also been improved for the coming map.

The new Zavod: Graveyard Shift will allow gamers to play Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Obliteration, Domination, and Gun Master.

For the last mode, the map actually has a darker layout that features a special weapon preset designed for night action.

Night Operations for Battlefield 4 will also introduce tweaks to the weaponry, improvements to netcode, and a new public server team balancer.

DICE is continuing to deliver new content for the shooter

Many gamers believed that support for Battlefield 4 would end with the launch of Hardline, but the development team has continued to offer updates and new content for it despite the fact that it is also working on Mirror's Edge Catalyst and on Star Wars: Battlefront.

Battlefield 4 will probably also get a big patch once Night Operations is launched, although details about it have not yet been offered.

DICE has also opened up the development process to the community, working with it to create a special map and to improve the overall experience.

Electronic Arts has suggested in its financial reports that it will deliver a new full Battlefield experience in 2016, but so far no details about it have been offered.

Presumably, DICE will work on it and an entirely new game engine might be created to power the new installment in the shooter franchise.
