14 DAY TRIAL // Battleborn, the multiplayer first-person brawler from Gearbox Software and 2K Games, has just received a fresh video and a set of details about its villain, Lothar Rendain, not to mention some information about its pre-order bonus, in the form of the Firstborn Pack which includes golden skins for some of the heroes in the title.
Battleborn was presented to the world some time ago as a novel take on the multiplayer online battle arena genre, blending first-person action seen in Gearbox's Borderlands saga, with different multiplayer modes and encounters, based on story and on pure competition.
In the last few months, more and more videos, screenshots, and details have been shared by Gearbox, alongside a release date of early February for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.
Rendain is the main villain of Battleborn's story
Now, after revealing various heroes and factions for the upcoming multiplayer game, Gearbox shows off a video that presents Lothar Rendain, the main villain.
As you can see in the pretty hilarious footage below, Rendain is pretty charismatic and seems to go the route seen in recent Borderlands titles with Handsome Jack.
According to Gearbox, which talked to Gamespot about the character, Rendain will frequently interact with players in order to taunt them, make speeches, and generally present his own position in the conflict.
"Rendain is frequently in the face of the Battleborn. He has a mission he must accomplish--the Darkening of the Last Star, Solus. The Battleborn are a significant obstacle to him, so he tracks their appearances with great frequency and often communicates directly to them. He definitely likes to make his speeches, and you’ll get to hear a number of those as you play the game," the studio explains.
Get golden skins for pre-ordering
Besides showing off the video and the details about Rendain, Gearbox also confirms on the official website that those who pre-order Battleborn ahead of launch can get golden skins for certain heroes, in the form of Thorn, Reyna, Montana, Marquis and Rath.
