What better time launch a snowy battle royale game than during winter? Darwin Project is a free to play battle royale that managed to attract more than 3.6 million players while it was on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview.

Although it doesn't have an exact release date, developer Scavengers Studio revealed Darwin Project is set for release in January 2020. More importantly, it's not just that the game will exit Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, but it will also be launched on the PlayStation 4.

Along with the release timeframe, the folks at Scavengers Studio announced that it's been hard at work adding a wide array of new content and features, including a new class system, new cosmetics, and a new option that will allow players to purchase items from the dressing room.

In the world of Darwin Project, inmates will now have the ability to choose from a selection of highly advanced proprietary technology modified for the Arena, known as Gear, to benefit their play style and dominate the competition.

At launch, players can choose from among three pieces of Gear to determine their class specializations: Jet Wings (the power of flight lets players out-maneuver their foes and deal death from above), Grapple Gauntlet (a mechanized hand that allows players to rapidly close the gap with their opponents), and Headhunter Drone (a robotic companion to track targets and do the player's bidding).

Darwin Project promises to offer a unique class-based Battle Royale experience where 10 inmates enter into a deadly Battle Royale unlike any other. Each class has its unique powers and specific gear that will allow players to engage in highly dynamic gameplay, weaving in and out of ranged and melee combat.

One other important thing worth mentioning is that if you've already played Darwin Project, you get to keep your level and cosmetics you unlocked during the early access when the game launches next month.
