A while ago, retailer Barnes & Noble decided to diversify its business and started launching tablets. But since the company couldn't create these products on its own because the process was too expensive, it decided to partner with Samsung to release rebranded tablets with special Nook software.

Barnes & Noble has just released a new tablet called Galaxy Tab A Nook, which is basically the 7-inch Galaxy Tab A that Samsung introduced back in March. But the Barnes & Noble tablet has Nook software on top so it would differentiate itself from Samsung's tablet and offer special features to Barnes & Noble customers.

The mid-range tablet sports a 7-inch 1280 x 800 TFT display with 216ppi and packs a 1.3GHz Samsung Exynos 3475 processor with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Aside from this, the tablet has a microSD card for adding up to 200GB of memory.

It also comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and a 5MP camera on the back with auto-focus and a 2MP unit on the front. Barnes & Noble doesn't mention battery capacity, but it does say that the battery can withstand up to 11 hours of Internet usage.

The tablet also has GPS, FM Radio, and Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n). It boasts multiple Barnes & Noble features like a vast library of eBooks under $4.99, and access to magazines, newspapers, and audiobooks for children. Nook Profiles allows families to create up to 6 profiles for personalized audiobooks and entertainment on the tablet.

Galaxy Tab A Nook sells for the price of $139.99 and comes with free content on it. Customers who own a Barnes & Noble tablet can upgrade for $99.99.

The Barnes & Noble model is quite similar to what Samsung offered with its Galaxy Tab A earlier this year.
