BoA is again interested in developing for Windows

The arrival of Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile is indeed an important catalyst for developers to bring their apps on Microsoft’s platforms, and now that the two OS versions are available, more companies start considering coding for them.

One of them is none other than Bank of America, the bank that had already created an application for Windows Phone but decided to remove it earlier this year.

In a tweet posted recently, Bank of America confirms that a Windows 10 Mobile app is in the works, but it provides no details on the release timing.

“We heard your feedback and are working to develop a Windows 10 mobile banking app. Stay tuned for updates,” the company says on its Twitter account.

WP app pulled in early 2015

Bank of America’s Windows Phone app was pulled from the store in March this year, and the mobile version of Internet Explorer that could be used as an alternative method for accessing online banking was banned. The bank has never revealed the reason it decided to give up on Windows Phone, so the only thing users had was an error displayed when launching the mobile app.

“We no longer support the app and you may not have browser access to bankofamerica.com for this device,” this message explained. “But you can access Online Banking through your laptop or desktop browser or a mobile device with a supported operating system. Just go to bankofamerica.com for a list of supported browsers and operating systems.”

Now the bank is again interested in building an app for Windows 10 Mobile, but remember that it could take a while until this arrives. The final version of Windows 10 Mobile is only available on new Lumia devices, and everyone else should get the upgrade sometime in early 2016, so expect this app and others to land after the operating system becomes generally available for everyone.
