Baldur's Gate 3 is still in early access, but we believe it's already a success story. The amount of new content and improvements Larian is rolling out every month is astounding. And we have a feeling that the Belgian developer has a lot more surprises in store for D&D fans.

Anyway, if you're already playing Baldur's Gate 3, we have great news for you. Larian has just announced that Patch 5 is coming on July 13 and brings major new features and improvements to the already addictive classic RPG. Although the full changelog will be revealed on July 13, Larian was kind enough to offer fans a list with some of the highlights of Patch 15.

We've already taken note of the new Active Roll system, which gives players the ability to swing the odds in their favor by applying spells and bonuses to their rolls. In addition, players can now see their modifiers and status effects happen directly within the UI, rather than being calculated in the background.

But wait, there's more! If you've created a character and selected a background, you'll be thrilled to know that every character will have their own series of secret mini-quests based on these roles, called Background Goals. For example, whenever a Folk Hero does something Folksy and Heroic or an Urchin does something Urchiny, they’ll be rewarded. It’s a new way to encourage role-playing, with players directly benefiting from acting as their character would in any given scenario.

Moving on to Camp Supplies, Larian added a new feature that makes players think a little more strategically about when to activate a Long Rest. Now in order to make camp (full rest), you first need supplies.

Also coming in Patch 5 are Mini Camps, context-dependent environments that offer an alternative to returning to your HQ by the river. From the Chapel near the Ravaged Beach to the Underdark, Larian recreated every landmark as its own isolated location that can be accessed when players are ready to hunker down for their Long Rest.

Finally, Larian revealed that they've given the AI a serious tune-up, with enemies now being far more intelligent and resourceful than before. You should now expect unarmed enemies to pick up discarded weapons, and enemies tossing health potions to each other.
