Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung

Electronics announced the availability of a new version of the bada SDK that enables application developers to come up with software for devices running under its proprietary OS.

The new flavor of the SDK packs a series of new features for app builders to take advantage of when delivering applications, as well as a series of improvements for the various functions it already had to offer.

For example, the new SDK release packs WQVGA as an official resolution, though it was supported as a beta version in the SDK 2.0.2. bada SDK 2.0.3 officially supports WVGA, HVGA, and WQVGA screen resolutions.

The new release of the developer tools offers support for additional languages when it comes to voice functions (TTS, STT).

In addition to English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish, which were already supported, the SDK also comes with support for Korean and Chinese. However, we should note that only Wave 3 supports Korean, and that only handsets in the Chinese market offer support for Simplified Chinese.

The release notes for the new bada SDK 2.0.3 include:

- The bada RSS builder template has been added for RSS applications. It enables developers to develop RSS applications more easily. - The debug library for target devices is distributed with some updates. With this updated version, you can use the step-into option while debugging applications on a target device, and the issue where variables were not read properly has been resolved. - Some errors in the Potential Bug Checker have been corrected and the performance has been improved. - The Ad library has been enhanced by removing limitations of the previous library.

At the same time, Samsung added support for the bada Test Kit application in the SDK, so that developers could install multiple apps on a targeted device.

Moreover, the Test Kit offers support for remote application installation, so that other devs would be able to test an application. The bada Test Kit application is expected to become available for download via the Samsung Apps portal.

The new bada SDK 2.0.3 is available for download from Softpedia as well, via this link.
