The third and final chapter of Ryza’s story is set to arrive next year, Koei Tecmo announced this week. Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key follows the story of alchemist Reisalin Stout, and her friends on their third summer adventure.

The game is set one year after the events of second entry in the trilogy on Kurken Island, the place where all started. In the next installment, Ryza and her friends set out to investigate a mysterious group of islands that have appeared in nearby waters.

Known as Kark Isles, these islands have a negative effect on Kurken Island, hence Ryza’s expedition. This time around, Ryza and her friends will get to explore four regions in a new “open field.” All four locations are explorable with “seamless transitions,” developers claim.

One of the main gameplay mechanics involves various types of keys that can be found and created, useful for exploration, synthesis and battle. Each key will have a different effect allowing players to experiment with them as they are the main way to unlock the island’s secrets.

Another interesting aspect revealed by developers is that the game will reunite players with characters from previous games, as well as making friends very important to the story. No less than 11 party members will be featured in the upcoming game, one of the largest rosters in series history. Some of the characters that are making a comeback have already been unveiled: Klaudia, Tao, and Lent.

To help celebrate the trilogy, Koei Tecmo announced that it’s offering a new Premium Box of Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, which contains an artbook, original illustration B2 cloth poster, special clear file (set of 2), mini acrylic character charm, early access DLC code for Ryza’s “Marine Look of Kurken Shore” costume, and a copy of the game.

Additionally, Koei Tecmo revealed that the Early Purchase bonus for the game is a special set of seven Summer Look costumes. Anyone who purchases a physical or digital copy of the game within two weeks after launch will receive these for free.  Speaking of which, Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is scheduled for release on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on February 24, 2023.
