The update would arrive at the start of spring

A few days ago, Samsung started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users. Shortly afterward, Samsung was forced to halt the rollout to users of unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 edge phones in China, but restarted the process soon afterward.

The rollout was halted due to some unforeseen bugs, but the company didn’t actually say what the issue was. Nonetheless, after the rollout resumed, many S7 and S7 edge owners started seeing the update on their phones and proceeded to install Nougat.

However, it seems that owners of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge phones bought from US carrier AT&T would have to wait a couple of months before they can install Nougat. An AT&T representative told a customer that the carrier would start pushing out the Nougat update after beta testing ends, according to GSMArena.

Galaxy S6 phones are next in line

Galaxy S7 and S7 edge phones on AT&T network would be updated to 7.0 Nougat, the representative confirmed. This means that customers should see the update by the start of March. That’s a long wait and maybe T-Mobile and Verizon customers will be luckier and receive the update in February.

A recent report said that the 7.0 Nougat update might hit Galaxy S7 and S7 edge phones at Canadian carrier Telus on February 8. Hopefully, US carriers will follow suit and push out the update sooner than later.

Yesterday, Samsung confirmed the list of phones that would receive updates to Android 7.0 Nougat. Aside from Galaxy S6 phones and the Note 5, the Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy S2, Galaxy A3 and A8 are also on that list.

The phone maker says that the update brings faster download speeds and system software updates, aside from a redesigned Quick Panel, direct reply, multi window support, and multiple performance modes for enhancing battery life.
