Word about a new affordable Android smartphone in the Zenfone family to be launched by Asus leaked for the first time back in August.

The unannounced Asus Zenfone Go was spotted last month at Flipkart, but the Taiwanese handset maker did not confirm the upcoming release of the smartphone.

Today, Asus has finally taken the wraps off the new Zenfone Go, a new report confirms. Asus Zenfone Go is now available for purchase via Fliparkt, Asus Excusive stores, and other authorized retailers for only Rs 7,999 ($120 / €110) outright.

Customers will be able to pick from three color variants, such as Ceramic White, Pure Black, and Glamour Red. Additional color options might be introduced later on though.

As mentioned earlier, Asus Zenfone Go is an affordable smartphone that ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with Zen UI 2.0 on top of it.

It's powered by a 2,070mAh removable battery

When it comes to hardware, the Zenfone Go is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor, a Mali-400 MP2 graphics processing unit, and 2GB of RAM.

The smartphone comes with only 8GB of storage inside, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

Also, Asus Zenfone Go sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. There's also an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, LED flash, and full HD (1080p) video recording, while on the front, there's a secondary 2-megapixel seflie camera.

The Zenfone Go offers both 3G HSPA+ and dual-SIM support, but also comes with other connectivity options, like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, and GPS with AGPS support.

“We are excited to announce the availability of ZenFone Go for our Indian users. Being the third largest home to smartphone users, India is a critical market for us and we intend to bring cutting edge products to consumers here, who seek power packed design sensibilities of a high-end smartphone at competitive prices,” said Mr. Peter Chang, Regional Head - South Asia & Country Manager - System Business Group - ASUS India.
