A few months ago, Asustek company officials stated that the Asus ZenFone 3 family would be unveiled on May 30, one day before the Computex 2016. Company plans seem to have changed as CEO Jerry Shen recently announced for DigiTimes, that the ZenFone 3 series will be officially unveiled in June.

The CEO also announced that the ZenFone 3 series will continue to address mid-range market segments and emphasized that devices will be powered by Qualcomm processors. Asustek began using smartphone solutions from Qualcomm in September 2015 and the recent policy change at Intel doesn’t affect Asustek production of smartphones.

Shen also mentioned that over 90% of the ZenFone smartphones will incorporate Qualcomm's processors, while the rest of 10% will come with MediaTek's CPUs. ZenFone 2 Deluxe Edition came with an Intel Z3590 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz.

As for future plans, Asustek CEO mentioned that the company will continue to focus on the mainstream segment in the U.S., while also aiming to compete against Huawei and Oppo in the China market.

ZenFone 3 will supposedly come with a 5.5-inch screen

There’s no official information on ZenFone 3 specs, rumors hint that the device will pack a 5.5-inch screen with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 CPU and 3 GB of RAM. The devices are expected to come with USB Type-C ports, fingerprint sensors and laser autofocus.

ZenFone 3 smartphones were spotted in benchmark listings this year, which indicated that the devices might come with a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie snapper, as well as 32GB of inbuilt storage.

The ZenFone 3 family will also include a Deluxe version, which will share some hardware specs with the Zenfone 3. The Deluxe model will allegedly have a larger 5.9 inch HD display and a resolution of only 1,280 x 720 pixels.

ZenFone 3 devices will be available in six countries starting with August this year. ZenFone 3 Max sales are expected to account for nearly two-thirds of total ZenFone 3 shipments, with ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 accounting for the rest.
