ASUS has launched the new StudioBook S laptop at the CES 2019 show, as the company wants to provide on-the-go productivity without compromising performance and battery life.
The device features a 17-inch display with 178 degrees wide-viewing angle and small bezels measuring just 5.3mm. ASUS says the 17-inch screen can fit inside a 15-inch body thanks to this approach.
The display is Pantone-validated, so it’s calibrated for the best color performance, with ASUS optimizing each screen before leaving the factory.
In terms of hardware, the new laptop will be available with up to a Xeon processor paired with NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics. You get a maximum of 64GB RAM that supports ECC memory.
“ECC works to detect and correct memory errors that could corrupt vital data or crash your computer in the middle of an important task. Solid-state storage is a must for anyone who can’t afford to wait around for their computer to catch up,” ASUS explains.
Launching in the spring
When it comes to storage, you can order the StudioBook S with up to 4GB, while in terms of connectivity you get one HDMI 2.0 port, one Thunderbolt 3 USB-C with Display Port 1.4 (40Gbps), as well as three USB 3.1 Type-A ports.
Obviously, since it’s such a workhorse, the device comes with all kinds of gimmicks, including arrow keys that are textured and 10 percent wider than the rest of the keys. Of course, the keyboard is illuminated, and each key features 1.4mm of travel.
“Like our newest ZenBooks, the StudioBook hides a discreet numpad in the trackpad. The numpad can be turned on or off with a tap in the top right corner and makes light work of inputting numbers or calculations,” ASUS explains.
ASUS hasn’t shared details regarding the pricing and availability of the laptop, but it should go on sale in the spring, and more information will probably be provided in the coming months.
