There have been countless news reports about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S7, so if you're passed the initial excitement, we can definitely understand that.

However, Samsung hardcore fans who are looking to upgrade to the next flagship smartphone the South Korean company has in the pipeline might want to read further on.

It's already common knowledge that Samsung plans to launch at least two versions of Galaxy S7 with different chipsets inside.

On the one hand, we have the Galaxy S7 equipped with Samsung's powerful Exynos 8890 processor clocked at 2.4GHz while, on the other hand, we have the Galaxy S7 featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset inside.

The first Exynos 8890 benchmarks leaked a few months ago and showed impressive performance, especially when it comes to multi-core tests.

Exynos 8890 blows Snapdragon 820 chipset out of the water

Today, the first benchmarks of the Samsung Galaxy S7 running on Snapdragon 820's SoC (system-on-chip) have popped up directly from China.

According to these Geekbench 3 benchmarks, the Galaxy S7 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset scored 2456 points in the single-core test, and 5423 in the multi-core test.

While this is slightly higher than the results scored by Galaxy Note 5 with Exynos 7420 inside, it's so far away from what the Exynos 8890 can perform when subjected to the same benchmark tests.

It appears that Samsung Galaxy S7 equipped with Exynos 8890 managed to score 2304 points on the single-core test and a whopping 8038 points on the multi-core test.

Unfortunately, the Exynos-based Galaxy S7 will not be available worldwide. For example, Samsung plans to launch the Qualcomm-powered variant in the United States and China.

However, if you were able to choose between the two, it looks like the Exynos-based model would be the way to go if performance is what you're looking for from your next flagship smartphone.
