French OEM Archos has just announced the upcoming availability of one of its few high-end smartphones, the Diamond 2 Note. The new smartphone will be showcased starting next week at Mobile World Congress 2016 trade fair.

According to Archos, its new Diamond 2 Note will be available for purchase in May for just £249 (€320 / $355) outright, which is a great deal considering its specs.

It's also worth mentioning that Diamond 2 Note will also be one of Archos' first smartphone to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.

Moving on to specs, Archos' high-end phablet boasts a stunning 6-inch IPS borderless capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

The French company claims the smartphone features optimized screen to body ratio, which makes the Diamond 2 Note of the same size as a 5.5-inch handset.

USB Type-C port and 16MP rear-facing camera

On the inside, the flagship smartphone comes equipped with a 64-bit 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM, PowerVR G6200 graphics processing unit and 32GB of internal memory. There's no mention of microSD card slot, but let's hope it comes with one.

At the back, Archos Diamond 2 Note features a 16-megapixel photo snapper with phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash and 4K video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 8-megapixel camera with wide-angle 84 degrees BSI sensor and F/2.2 aperture.

The smartphone will be powered by a 3,610 mAh battery that features fast charge (80% charge in just 45 minutes). Archos also announced the Diamond 2 Note includes remote control and smart PA (sound amplification support) sound system.

Connectivity-wise, the phablet offers 4G LTE Cat.4 (150/50Mbps), as well as USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS with AGPS support.
